Centre based holidays – many benefits
The advantages of choosing a holiday based at one hotel are numerous, relative to touring from hotel-to-hotel. This applies to walking and cycling holidays as well as simply just relaxing holidays.
Less Stressful
Guests unpack at the beginning and repack at the end of their centre-based holiday. The tiresome daily chore of repacking and unpacking necessitated by a hotel-to-hotel holiday is avoided.
No worries about finding the route to the next hotel or about arriving in due time.
Less 'Touristy'
To pause in life and to spend a number of days in one locality allows one to become better acquainted with the countryside and with the friendly local people. Guests at le Moulin du Chemin are seen as part of the local cultural fabric – unlike passing tourists.
More Variety
Well-meaning chefs on hotel-to-hotel walking or cycling holidays – working within budgets set by the firm who organised the holiday – are likely to offer meals in which the regional speciality plays a big part. Most walking and cycling holidays cannot cover enough distance to get out of one region and into another. The same regional speciality each day can become tiresome after a day or two.
Le Moulin du Chemin's superb cuisine provides each evening varied enticing starters, different superb speciality main dishes, an array of cheeses followed by one of Carolynn's famous puddings.
More Versatility
If the weather is less than perfect (God forbid!), you are not compelled to walk in the rain to the next hotel. There are plenty of local places of historic, cultural and natural interest to visit and things to see instead. Or you can curl up and read a book at le Moulin du Chemin, until the weather brightens.
In case fatigue, there is no obligation to walk to the next hotel (or to cheat and take a taxi). Walks can be tailored to suit your needs (shorter, or if you wish, longer). Tailoring walks is obviously precluded if you are obliged to walk from one hotel to another. Alternatively, you can have a lazy day by the pool or visit a place of interest.
Le Moulin is ideal for parties with a non-walking member, who can 'potter' at le Moulin du Chemin or follow a different holiday pursuit.
More Amicable
As a couple or on your own, evening meals on holiday can be a bit isolated, even in the most inviting restaurants. The extra impulse that a bigger group can bring to the evening's enjoyment is missing. Not so at le Moulin du Chemin. Convivial aperitifs-at-seven and evening meals at le Moulin du Chemin are relaxed and leisurely with guests and hosts at a single large table where each individual is made to feel included.
